About Me

Paul Hardwick, BA (Hons), BIA.

As a dedicated social worker, I'm passionate about enhancing the well-being and upholding the rights of vulnerable individuals. For nine years, I worked with adults with learning and physical disabilities within a day service, holding the position of Day Service Organiser and running a community service.

I then transitioned to the local authority, qualifying as a Community Officer. I subsequently sourced and completed my Social Work degree while working full-time and raising a family of four children. My commitment to social care is deeply personal, as my own family includes individuals with learning and physical disabilities. I've also personally supported my grandparents through their social care journey, including their transition to 24-hour care.

Following qualification, I continued to work as a Social Worker within the local community. My career at the local authority has involved numerous projects, notably the creation of a crucial link between NHS and social care services.

My extensive experience within local authorities and a specialised Mental Health team has provided diverse expertise across various sectors of adult social care. This includes working with older people, individuals living with dementia, those with physical disabilities, and supporting hospital discharge and post-hospital care.

I've worked within hospital and post-hospital settings, and gained experience with the Early Intervention Vehicle (EIV) service, collaborating with paramedics to respond to low-level 999 calls, primarily assisting individuals with dementia who experienced falls. My career progression then led me to a Community Mental Health Team.

Subsequently, I became a Locum Social Worker, working for several years in the Hospital Discharge Team at a very large, well-known hospital. My locum work extended to a Learning Disability team, followed by a role within a London Borough, covering four large London hospitals. Most recently, I moved to a local authority to work in the Finance team, supporting Court of Protection (COP) work.

Throughout my career in both hospital and community settings, I consistently observed a significant gap in professional support for self-funding individuals. These individuals, often with family or a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), received generic information but navigated the complex care system with limited expert guidance. Self-funders are defined as individuals whose financial assets exceed the threshold set by the Care Act 2014.

My objective is to leverage my experience and in-depth knowledge to guide you through the assessment process, Continuing Health Care (CHC), Mental capacity and helping you find the most suitable support that genuinely meets your needs and promotes independence. A holistic approach, utilising local community services, charities, and appropriate technology, can significantly enhance independence and offer long-term financial savings.

My career has involved successfully delivering projects with specific, targeted objectives, refining my skills in managing complex tasks and achieving defined outcomes within adult care. I firmly believe that every individual, irrespective of their funding status, deserves access to the same high standard of expert support. This conviction was the driving force behind establishing Adult Care Consultancy, ensuring all individuals receive the dedicated assistance required to make informed decisions and secure the best possible care.
